Vārdnīca is a fast Latvian dictionary built for learners and travellers. Look up any of roughly 25,000 frequency-ranked Latvian words and instantly see translations in English, Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian — and search in any of those languages too. The whole dictionary is on your device, so it works without an internet connection.
Search that understands Latvian
- Around 25,000 headwords, ordered by how often they appear in modern Latvian, so you learn the words that matter first.
- Translate both ways — type Latvian, or type your own language to find the Latvian word.
- Inflected-form search: type a word in any case or tense and it still finds the dictionary entry.
Learn the grammar
- Full declension and conjugation tables for nouns, adjectives and verbs.
- Written IPA pronunciation where available.
- Tēzaurs-based definitions, translated into all five languages.

The interface is available in Latvian, English, Russian, Ukrainian and Lithuanian, with light and dark themes. The app works fully offline and does not collect any personal data.
Dictionary data is derived from open sources and is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) license. Translations are generated automatically and may contain minor errors.
